Keeping tabs loaded in the background — the change that made switching between them instant — means leaving a screen hides it rather than destroying it, and this floating navigation sits outside the screen it belongs to, so it was never being hidden with it. It is now tied to whether its own screen is on display. The speed is unchanged: the screens are still kept loaded, so returning to one is still instant.
