    Archipelago 1.8.21-alpha

    • Fixes Cashu file payments between nodes sharing a mint, exact refunds on rejected underpayments, saving purchases to Files, and free repeat downloads.
    • Offers optional Bitcoin Core/Knots pruning during installation, using the same policy as automatic pruning.
    • Explains Bitcoin startup and Lightning dependency waiting without presenting unavailable balances as zero.
    • Uses mempool.space as the public explorer default while preserving local and custom choices.
    • Gives Bitcoin and LND their full graceful shutdown time through generated systemd/Podman services, including existing installations.
    • Requires an observed Bitcoin container change before restarting Lightning dependents.
    • Includes the transparent embedded AIUI background fix.

    Validation: 1,559 isolated backend tests passed (four existing hardware/live tests ignored), 1,120 frontend tests passed, production builds passed, and live dev/Shorty checks preserved native containers across management restarts. A fresh paid-file purchase, exact underpayment refund, Files copy, and free cached repeat passed on these release binaries.

    The signed OTA and raw x86_64 ISO are available. The ISO passed payload and checksum verification and booted to the installer prompt in a UEFI VM. The ISO checksum JSON is signed by the pinned release root. Download the .iso directly; no decompression is needed.
